St. Mary’s College recently took part in the final of Gael Linn’s prestigious ‘Abair’ Irish public speaking competition, which was this year held in the Garage Theatre in Monaghan. Second year student Daniel Fasan represented the school in the final of the cross-border competition having qualified from the regionals. Competitors on the day had to speak about a topical issue for three minutes each. In the final Daniel spoke about “Lá Fhéile Pádraig” (“St. Patrick’s Day”) and discussed the merits and the demerits surrounding the annual festival. He was delighted to achieve second place in the Junior Certificate section. He was awarded a trophy and a half scholarship to attend a Coláiste Gael Linn Gaeltacht College to recognise his success. Comhghairdeas leis!
