Catholic schools week

The theme for this year was Celebrating the work of our local Catholic Schools. In St. Mary’s College this week is a celebration of our ongoing work in passing on our Catholic Faith.

Students and staff created a Marist connections chain which represented their common bond and linked together their hopes and dreams.A Marist Jigsaw was created. This contained the key words for Our Catholic School Week journey.A survey was carried out to establish our College diversity. We discovered that we embrace 42 different nationalities. A bunting flag display at the College entrance reflected this.A world map also showed these countries and the Location of the Marist Missions. A group of students also participated in Shine 2019 in the Holy Church of the Redeemer.

The week also included a range of activities. Each Morning we had a CSW Reflection and prayer. After lunch each day we had grace after meals said in different languages. On Thursday and Friday the to 5th yr had a talk on the Marist Missions. There was a Marist student treasure hunt as a lunchtime activity on Friday. Two first year students Cliona O’ Hare Doyle and Hannah Morton pictured won the treasure hunt. St. Brigid’s day crosses were also made in some classes.

A wonderful week of reflection, celebration and fun was had by all.
