There is a strong heritage and tradition of Gaelic football in St. Mary’s College. Teams compete at all levels and participation rates are continuously high.
Boys Gaelic Football
Junior teams compete at first year, U14 and U16 level. Regular training takes place in the school grounds. Teams compete in
Louth and Leinster competitions and the Brendan McCarthy 7-a-side tournament.
U18s participate in the Lennon Cup. High quality training and preparation are provided. There is a proud tradition of
Gaelic Football in the school and many of our students have gone on to receive Lennon Cup All-Star awards. A number of students from the school are selected each year to play for the Dundalk Colleges combined team which competes in the Leinster Colleges Senior Football ‘A’ Championship.
Ladies Gaelic Football
There are both junior and senior Ladies Football teams. The provision of Ladies Football in the school is continuously being developed and enhanced. The sport is very popular amongst students and participation rates are high. Students receive high quality training and coaching with the girls competing in the Leinster Schools Competition and in the Louth Schools Blitz.
Hurling is promoted in the school and students are given the opportunity to learn the skills and practice and refine their technique.
